Default Smart Casual

My husband and I are taking a cruise next year. I am trying to figure out if smart casual means that you have nice pantsuit like what you wear to work or if you couild wear nice sun dresses? Thanks for all the help.

Unfortunately, it is sad to say that Smart Casual and Casual are virtually the same thing now. Either a pants suit or sundress would be acceptable!

If you were referring to the main dining room attire, smart casual does not require a man to were a suit jacket, a nice pair of dockers and dress shirt will work just fine (no tie required). Ladies tend to opt for nice sundresses.

Elsewhere on the ship is purely casual... on any given day.

Check with people who were on your same cruise right before you. Most cruises have done away with smart casual all together. On our last cruises, there were 2 formal and the rest were all casual. There were no smart casual nights listed at all.

I always take a nice capri outfit or two and they dress up nicely for dinner. DH wears his dockers pants with a polo shirt or nice short sleeve printed shirt or havanera. I always think of dressing up as I would for a nice out. Hope this helps
