Default san juan port

Just booked the Granduer out of Tampa and it will arrive in San Juan. On the same day, we will board the Serenade to continue on our journey. I have never sailed from San Juan and am curious as to whether the 2 ships dock together. I need wheelchair assistance to board so I would like to know in advance as to what I need to do. Is there only one cruise terminal in San Juan?

Thanks for the help!

That is a good question. I could be wrong, but I strongly believe there is only 1 cruise terminal

Cruise ships dock right in the heart of Old San Juan.

Ships dock in two places. The best location is just across from the Sheraton Old San Juan (formerly known as the Wyndham) because you walk off the ship into the heart of the old city. Other times, your ship will dock just across the bay -- a stone's throw away -- but it's farther than it looks and you'll need to take a taxi to get anywhere.

Default San Juan

There are two terminals. One right in the heart of Old San Juan and the other is a cab ride away. Last April I was on the Serenade it was docked at the remote terminal.

Best to ask RCI.

Royal Caribbean seems to always use the docks in Old San Juan. Who knows, you ships may be right next to each other??

If it helps any (if you can grab a map for research), the remote port has nothing but a very small airport next to it. Basically only for small puddle jumpers.

It was heavily under construction when we went. Not sure if it was working on the streets or what. But there was nothing to do right there & you'd have to take a taxi to do anything.

If a RCCL ship is coming in just for a day stop,it goes to Pier 4 in old san juan.Any ship that is doing a turn around goes out to the Pan Am dock on the other side of the bay.Look at your ticket for the Seranade and see if it says Panam pier.

Thank you for all the help. Our cruise isn't until next April so I have no info as to where the Granduer docks or the Serenade leaves from. I will continue to talk to my travel agent when the cruise is closer. Since it is sort of a back to back cruise I am hoping that RCCL will accomodate my needs. Anyway, time will tell.
