Default Why Tortola and not St Kitts

Anyone know why RCCL mainly explorer of the Seas dropped St Kitts for Tortola. Taking Explorer in Mar 2010 and would have loked to stop St Kitts?

I don't know the reason but I do know I was not impressed with Tortola back in March. The stop at Cane Garden Bay was like a visit to Coney Island Very crowded...

I have been to Tortolla twice and St. Kitts once. I will take St. Kitts any day. Tortolla has about 30 Holidays a year and they seem to always fall during the time I am in Tortolla. Holidays mean that NONE of the stores are open. Also, I wasn;t impressed with the Tortolla beaches. Crowded and not what you would call paradise.

Hello Fellowcruisers,

Your query about why RCCL dropped St. Kitts and replaced Tortolla - you need to call your T.A. or RCCL. They would be the ones to correctly answer that question.

We will also be taking Explorer of the Seas in November 2008. Really looking forward to it.

One reason is that docking in St. Kitts is a bit tricky for the bigger ships. On the Radiance last year we missed our stop at St. Kitts because of heavy seas which according to the captain would have allowed us to tie up but not to leave due to the sea condition. As far as Tortola goes, I love the BVI and if you have the chance take a day trip over to Virgin Gorda and The Baths.
