We will have a few hours to spare after our horseback riding excursion in Samana. Does anyone know of a beach or something to do without wandering too far from the ship? Is there anything within walking distance?
Thank You

Where the heck is Samana?
Samana, I hope I'm spelling it right is in the Dominican Republic, It will be the third port of call on my upcoming cruise. If you have to ask I guess you've never been there. Thank you.

Hope someone will be able to help you though.
Thanks FL! I noticed someone else post a question about this place and almost nobody responded. Looks like it's not a well known destination.

I was in Samana a couple of years ago and there is really nothing close to the ship that I remember being able to do. We went back to the ship after our excursion(jeep tour). Depending on how much time you have maybe you can book another excursion. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Thanks for you're input, I will most likely return to ship after excursion knowing this. My wife wants to stay until the last minute but I don't think she realizes that we will be tired after waking up in the early morning for this physically taxing excursion.

Going on the same cruise as Dave. I have to decide by Sunday (RCI deadline) - do we want to do the jeep excursion, atv excursion or the boat to caves (not crazy about caves) which includes the beach.
Any suggestions!!! Time is ticking....
We went on a self drive 4x4 excursion in Samana which turned out to be far more touching than we would have thought the local people were so nice and helpful that my Daughters want to go back to see the kids we met. We went to a working plantation where we sampled some of the local foods and drink which I myself was amazed at how they live and how they survive off of what is grown in the woods and how they cook on open flamed pits. It really made me and my family appreciate what we take for granted everyday a lot more.
Royal it's a shame you didn't get off you may have had a great time

Samana is not real safe to travel on your own(even close to the ship).
So be careful what you decide to do.
Good luck.
I'm starting to wonder if the excursions are safe. I will be horseback riding in the middle of nowhere. I booked this excursion through RCI and hope they provide adequate security.
