Default FIRST CRUISE

This will be my first cruise. I will be boarding on Royal Caribbean Mariner of the Seas sailing date of Jan 17th. Last I heard there will be about 16 service dogs on board! They are on a fund raiser cruise for Paws With a Cause. This is my first trip in many years and never been on a cruise can anyone give me tips on what to do and see? I am sure there is no way one person can do it all in one sailing. But I must hear from others to tell me what really stand out or a must do or see. I will be there with my service dog on board ( my dog is a hearing dog)!

WOW..that's a hard one!! Really! What do you like to do??

Mariner has an ice rink, so see the ice show...it's free but they hand out tickets....read your CRUISE COMPASS (a little newsletter you'll get at night) for all the info.

The shows are good, so I would see those as well

There is TONS of stuff to do....but you will go bananas trying to do it all! The ROYAL PROMENADE is the central area of the ship with shops, bars and cafe promenade with snacks and fancy coffees, etc. (SOME things there are free, some are not...food and regualr coffee/tea are free...ice cream, fancy coffees and drinks are not.)

I like to walk around the ship early---like 6 or 7 AM if i am awake...that way you can see the ship without the people..

that's just a start........more people will have other info!

enjoy your trip! and welcome!

Just be aware of the virus you will come down with. Every first time cruiser comes down with it. It is awful. It's the PCDV. I don't think there is a cure to it just a medication to limit the effects of it. Kinda pricey though. But you will learn to live with that disease over the years. And you learn how to battle the symptoms. We all did learn it.

Good luck and have fun though.

PCDV = Post Cruise Depression Virus

I would LOVE it if you could get a group picture with all of you and your service dogs on board.

Enjoy your first cruise and you picked a wonderful ship with a great mexican itinerary.

Don't miss the ice show it is excellent.

And please do post a picture of the doggies when you get back.
Service dogs I'm thinking of Shepards, Labs and Goldens... 8)

We just got off Mariner of the Seas. It is a beautiful ship with lots to do. On our cruise last week, they did not hand out tickets to the ice show. You just had to show up. There are only about 400 seats in the ice rink and over 3,000 passengers. They did the ice show 4 times. So if you want to see the show, be sure to stand in line about 45 minutes before show time!
Have a great time. I would love to be back on the ship.
