Do we all panic and not visit them? NO Please don't let an incident scare you into missing a city or country.
THERE are cities and area's in this county that we don't visit; shop or drive through because of high crime or the danger of armed assault. For example there's specific area's of L.A that even the police don't like driving through because of the high incident of shootings etc.

Now let's say some tour bus company arranges a tour of sightseeing even includes lunch and some shopping, but it's at the edges of these high crime areas where shootings and assaults are common...would we go?
Most likely not because we know about these areas and can make an informed choice.

With a cruise tour or any tour to a foreign country...most of the time we're at the mercy of the tour guides and the cruise lines as to the safety of our visit. Unless we have visited there before, we're don't know the area or the crime stats, etc. We're depending on our guides and the cruise line to make informed choices for us as to the safety of our tour.

Keeping in mind that cruise lines think with their wallets FIRST...and IF the cruise line decides that an area is not safe...Hey...I'm for respecting their choice.

eloquently stated Felix. I don't want to trivialize the events and would love to see those responsible brought to justice.

Boy that is really scary! We were on the Navigator with them. We walked through town and then we went to the Hilton for the day. It is funny we did not hear anything about it when we got back on the ship.

Just got back from Nassau. Was also there in September and October. Not my favorite port.

I couldn't get link to open-maybe it's too old now?

We've been to Nassau once before and frankly I thought it sucked.
I was quite dismayed to find that Nassau was a port on the Oasis Eastern itinerary. I wish they would reconsider and change it to San Juan.
I won't be getting off the ship in Nassau.
