Came by this thread by accident. I was trying to find some recent reviews of the RCCL Mariner of the Seas.
We just booked one of the last suites on the Mariner for the Dec 12th sailing, THEN decided to look up the reviews. ....Glad we did though because until I read this thread, we didn't realize she was leaving the west coast so soon. We did get our cruise at a good price even though we booked last minute...Seems this particular cruise cost go up the closer January 2011 gets.
The Mariner will be one of the largest ships we've been on, so we are really looking forward to this cruise. Hate hate hate to fly...so I think we'll be done cruising RCCL for a while.
Smart to grab it for two reasons:
1-yes it's leaving-do it while you can
2-price will go up since the Splendor is out of commission for a while.
She's a fine ship and will home port in Galveston in the future.

Snoozeman: Yup...we only got the suite we did because someone failed to put in their final payment. Sad for them...happy for us. Our Agent in the meantime had been trying to put us on the Mariner in January. We were giving her all our booking perimeters...Suite on the Port side only, blah, blah blah etc. When she tried to book us...we quickly found out there were NO cabins available in January! The Mariner was booked solid December - January..when she leaves the west coast. We were humbled...and were thrilled to have chanced on a opening December 12th.
The only cruise line in the RCCL family left on the west coast is the Amazara's two ships, the Journey and the Quest. But the cost of a Sea of Cortez cruise in a veranda cabin is twice as high per person we are paying now for a SUITE on the Mariner of the Seas.
