We booked another shuttle and they told us we had to wait 45 minutes because ship was not boarding yet. Walked over to RC kiosk they said they would be leaving in 10 minutes. Called back to cancel pick up and got in to a huge arguement with a very rude disaptcher. I canceled my credit card just so they would not bill me!
We were in RC holding area waiting to board before they would have picked us up. RC shuttle goes right through the check point where all other shuttles & taxi's have to stop and be checked. And once we got on shuttle we never had to deal with our luggage until it was in our cabin!

When I cruise out of Port Everglades.. I just hop on the Rental Car's shuttle from the airport.. Might be wrong but it gets the job done, and for free.

I have yet to use a shuttle in FLL. The cab ride is easy and less expensive for two people.
When using the cab the driver always loads the bags in the trunk and unloads them at the ship. From there the luggage handlers take them and put them on board. Not really any more luggage handling than you would have with the cruise line.
One time, shortly after 9/11, we did have to wait about ten minutes at the port entry because they were checking the cabs and other shuttles. Otherwise we've had little or no wait.
It really is a matter of preference. If you like to use the cruise line shuttle then go for it.
Take care,
Mike

If ever there was a port/airport to do your own thing this is the place. The few times I did a cruise shuttle, hated it,beginning with the fact you had to wait till the bus fills up. Here. 1-2-3, done and gone.

You should have done your research PRIOR to booking. You obviously chose an option other than RC because of price, then you turned around and ended up paying the higher price anyway.

I got the name of the shuttle company from here on another blog. We did not choose the shuttle company because of money. We choose because of price, we have a bad experience with another cruise line's shuttle.

I agree with the others - best way is by cab. The pier is only about 3-1/2 miles from the airport and about $12 for a taxi. No waiting, no hassle. Sure beats any of the shuttles, unless you happen to have a group.
