Sailed the Zaandam, Westerdam and Veendam. So far, favorite HAL ship is the Zaandam. Will be on the Prinsendam in June/July.

Weather is difficult to predict. On our Alaska cruise they were experiencing record highs in some ports - had 90 degrees in Juneau! We expected a lot of rain but only had rain on one day.

I personally love the heat and agree that bad weather can happen anytime but hurricane season involves greater potential for more than just "bad weather." Katrina occurred August 23-30.

We were on the Westerdam in July on a Baltic cruise and liked the ship, although it is a little larger than we prefer. We favored the Zaandam and will be sailing the Veendam in April.
