Re: Mini Suite vs. Balcony

Our price difference from top category balcony to AE mini-suite on the Sun this summer was $65 each, so that was a no-brainer for us. However, $1200 would not have been an option for us financially....

Re: warm enough for shorts?

Back in June we were able to wear a pair of shorts on two separate days - pack a variety just in case! :)

Re: I Just Don't Get It!

vclst - Great story! So many times people have a negative experience on one ship, and then decide the entire cruiseline is horrible based solely on that one sailing. That's great you had a TA who...

Re: Sun Mini-Suite Balconies

We were in an aft minisuite, but from what we could tell from pics and from seeing the outside of the ship last month, the balconies seem to be rectangular. Don't know how much furniture. Our's had...

Re: Getting married in port-a warning.

LU - I agree - marrying onboard a Princess ship while at sea definitely takes away the risk of missing a wedding if marrying at a port of call. We originally researched Princess, but knew what we...

Re: NCL Sun v Carn Victory

I've never cruised Carnival so I can't say a word about the comparison. However, we cruised the Sun last month (and the Sun's sister ship - the Sky - in 2000 before it was reflagged). We thoroughly...

Re: Hurricane Season

I have to add on to CruzCrazy's post about NEVER crusing in hurricane season...

We don't either, and when planning our cruise wedding, I'm a teacher with only certain times we could marry since I...

Re: eastern carib....

Check out www.vinow.com

I also recommend taking the ferry from St Thomas to St John (singular). Both are US Virgin Islands.

Re: I Just Don't Get It!

Hey Mike! What a terrific cruise for you and your dad! :) We've personally never tried reserving a particular table or location, but it never hurts to ask. :) I have a distant relative who cruised...

Re: I Just Don't Get It!

To answer the original poster's question...

I would not hesitate to take the Sun out of NO for that itinerary (or any itinerary).
We were on NCL Sun last month for Alaska and thoroughly enjoyed...

Re: Getting married in port-a warning.

You definitely see stories online about missed port weddings.

I knew someone in the same situation - cruise left out of Miami with wedding scheduled at first port (Key West). Her ship never went...

Re: Best NCL cruise ship for Alaska

Although we haven't cruised Princess (yet), we cruised NCL Sun out of Vancouver last month and had a WONDERFUL cruise. No Glacier Bay... we did Tracy Arm which was amazing (up towards Sawyer...

Re: Mendenhall Glacier _too expensive

Hubby and I were pleased with the $20 (per person) tours we bought upon arrival in Juneau. Many stands were set up near the base of the tram, and one had a bus leaving in about 3 minutes. Walking...

Re: Aft Cabins for Alaska?

We had an aft cabin on NCL Sun June 12-19 roundtrip out of Vancouver and absolutely loved it. In fact, we never made it to a single show on the ship... we spent so much time on our balcony or...

Most definitely watch for unexpected bear crossings! My parents/grandparents decided to go on back to the ship after Emerald Lake with no more stops... while we came behind. They pulled over to watch...

Re: NCL Sun Alaska

For the concierge and butler (if applicable) you can tip them directly. I understood that they were not a part of the pool. In fact, I think we actually got a letter about that the day before...

Re: Norwegian Sun Mini-suites-On the stern

Just back last night from our NCL Sun cruise. We had aft minisuite 9278 and our friends had the mini nextdoor - 9078. The only "noise" we heard was the soothing sound of the wake down below when we...

We are going on the Sun to Alaska in four weeks and will be glad to answer any questions upon our return! We, too, are laid back. I doubt we see any shows because the entertainment (in our opinion)...
