Can travelers checks be cashed on board? If so, is there a fee? I've heard that personal checks can be cashed on board. Is there a fee for this?

I'm going on the Carnival Spirit in November. I heard that if you are not pleased with your meal in the dining room, you can order something else. Also, can you order more than one dessert?

My boyfriend, his mother and I will be going on an 8 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera at the end of November leaving from San Diego. Will we need passports or shots?
