My Wife and I will be cruising Hawaii on the Pride of Aloha (NCL) Sept. 10 -20,2004.
Our ports of call are Honalulu, Kuai, Hilo, Kona and Maui. We would appreciate any
Suggestions and or recomended shore excursions at thes ports.
There are lots of tour companies in Hawaii that will take you around. I lived on Oahu for 7 years so I can give you some pointer there. Honolulu has a great bus system that can take you to the Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri. I think the #52 bus circles the island. Hilo Hatties is also fun for getting touristy stuff. The Pali lookout is a must.
Are you into adventure? I returned from the July 4th inaugural sailing on the Pride of Aloha and the adventurous excursions made my whole cruise. If you are not afraid
of a little daring fun, let me know and I'll give you details about ziplining, downhill bicycling, walking on lava etc. These were fabulous.
The Pride of Aloha has its problems, but the trip will be what you make of it. I believe it has improved since we were on board on the inaugural sailing. That's why we did at least one shore excursion per day. I booked most of them on my own.
The ziplining on Kauai was our favorite. I booked this through Kauai Backcountry Adventures and saved over $50.00 per person. It is like jumping off a cliff and sailing
through the air. Fabulous!!
I also booked the downhill bicycling on Maui through Maui Mountain Cruisers. This was also a lot of fun, if you are skilled on a bike. Very dangerous but the view is out of this world. The clouds are literally under you. Booking on your own saves over $50.00 each too.
The lava field hike and the Kipu Ranch ATV were also fantastic, and I booked these through NCL since they were not available on those days when NCL is in port. Apparently, NCL books a lot of the tours out on the days they are in port.
