Female, 45 non smoker, social drinker, seeks dinner companion and balcony cabin mate to defer the dreaded single supplement.
Well educated, fairly independent traveler who enjoys sightseeing, shopping, sampling local cuisine, and history. Half the fun of traveling is planning, and I will rarely take a cruise sponsored excursion, preferring to research and plan an independent tour for myself and anyone who wants to come along for an off the beaten path adventure. On board, I’m a (quiet) early riser, and most sea days you’ll find me in the outdoor Jacuzzi or somewhere on deck taking in the salty ocean air.
Love to dress up and enjoy a cocktail (or two!), and a few dances. Also enjoy trivia contests, comedy and talent shows, and good music. However, many evenings you’ll find me on a quiet deck or the balcony, taking a late night swim, reading, or enjoying an evening cocktail.
Probably my worst quirk as a roommate is that I really love to fall asleep to the sound of the waves lapping against the ship, and so I prefer to leave the balcony door open at night. Other than that, I am quiet, considerate and easy going. Don’t mind at all if you smoke, if you are okay with smoking on the balcony or outside the room.
Right now, I am hoping to go to the Greek Isles / Mediterranean next May – perhaps the Grand Princess May 2 (Rome / Naples / Santorini / Rhodes / Kusadasi / Mykonos / Olympia / Corfu /Dubrovnik / Venice). Also, would love to take a Caribbean or South American cruise in early January.
However, open to all ideas. Would love to hear from you!
Usually the cruise ships request that you leave the doors closed to keep the air conditioning inside. Also, it would be terribly humid, don't you think?
Sounds like you are a veteran cruiser like me. Most of what you wrote is me. Probably the only item I wouldn't participate in is the off the beaten path stuff. I don't do off the beaten path and I'm not real adventurous. When it comes to the unknown in an unknown country I steer clear unless I have a paid cruise line guide . But, hey roomies don't mean we have to do everythig together. Probably the worse thing about me on a cruise is I get sea sick but the use of the patch almost totally eliminates that. I only get the equilibirum off a bit thing. The door open at nite, well maybe it won't be so bad. But some quiet time, the talent show (i've been a participant), dancing, a cocktail (or two) , attending the shows and spending some time with a good book sounds like my kinda cruise.
I'm also tired of paying the dreaded 200% and am thinking about a Mediterranean cruise for next year (although May will be out of the question if my Kenya trip comes through), I'm 49, also a nonsmoker. I have a cruise scheduled for October of this year for the Caribean and would love to take one in December or January. I may have to cancel the October one because I haven't found a cabin mate yet and don't know if I want to pay the 200%. The balcony rate for the celebrity Galaxy, Oct 18 is only $1,000 and I think you can get a suite for $1,150. It's a repositioning cruise so that's why the rate is so good. I'm a tavel agent so I get some other good rates but sometimes they are off season and my travel campanion (my now 19 year old son) usually can't go at those times.
Hi Pat,
Thanks for your note. The cruises I've taken to the Mediterranean were in May and Sept and humidity was never a problem. I believe in energy conservation so I would never have used the a/c with the doors open. As it turns out, I never needed to use the a/c - the weather was springlike and the air cool. It was wonderful. -bb

Retired professional female FL resident, seeks an independent cabin-cost sharing 'buddy' (lady/strictly platonic)
for Transatlantic cruise leaving Florida Port mid April 2012 arriving late April 2012 at
BARCELONA, Spain.
I have priced and have a courtesy hold until tomorrow on RCCL Liberty of the Seas from MIA to Barcelona departing April 14.2012 arriving Barcelona April 28. 2012; my hold is on a single guarateed inside cabin - the price - if shared for this guarantee inside would be slightly less than $700.00 incl. all taxes;
if an ocean-view / balcony cabin (Same price at this very moment) is to be shared, we are looking at a guarantee (meaning no assigned stateroom! - [until boarding !] thus, stateroom could be anywhere on the ship incl having an obstructed view - which would be just fine with me!) booking for this category is less than $950 incl taxes p.p. on the CELEBRITY SOLSTICE departing Fort Lauderdale April 15. 2012
arriving Barcelona April 29.2012.
Both sailings feature 4/5 docking ports on route through the Caribbean / Mediterranean.
My name is Gale and I live in the Ft. Myers Area.
Looking forward to hear from you, ideally with a phone number for me to call you.

Thank you for being so detailed. My mother is looking for a cruise mate just like you and is very flexible with the dates. We live in Florida and any of the ports in Florida will work well with her. She has a lot of time off and would love to cruise more. Please email me if you are interested in finding out more about her.
I am also looking for a cruise buddy. I am a 68 yo white female. love to cruise anywhere. Would like to see the panama canal. Love the idea of a balcony. I try to bee neat and always respectful of others. I like to eat, do the activites on the ship. I laugh easily. I am active. Sharing the costs is the most important and I will gladly do that. If interested, my e-mail: rbell3733@yahoo.com or call me 702-334-2065. I live in Nevada
