Thanks Kathy. I get a little defensive of my gorgeous girlfriends who are a bit overweight...or even chubby. The nice thing is, I used to be a chunky gal myself. But my face and mind were no different than they are today. Now that I have the hot bod, some guys will talk to me where they wouldn't have before. Too bad there are still a lot of shallow people out there

Here's a tip for you gals (and guys) who want to lose a few pounds before a cruise. I find if I stick strictly to Lean Cuisines, no wine or alcohol, for two weeks prior to the cruise, I can drop, at the very least, five pounds. Sometimes ten if I walk every day. Counting down to the cruise helps me avoid the temptation of Lattes and donuts. And even if you don't need to lose the weight, you won't feel quite as guilty indulging in all that wonderful food...and desserts!

Great idea Pat. I have a few tips as well. Get off the couch and run 2 miles every morning, then eat a banana and a glass of orange juice. Do not eat lunch, drink alot of water everytime you reach for the twinkies, have a light dinner, no desert and drink vodka with soda and lime.

While on the cruise, do not feel like you have to eat all that is offered. Stay away from the bacon and meat for breakfast, have some fruit, half a bagel with lox and some juice, skip lunch (get nourishment from alcohol but not fruity drinks!), eat a sensible dinner, one peice of bread and no desert. Do NOT go to the midnight buffet!!

This always works for me.

Don't forget Dave and Pat, the ship does have a gym . . . use it.

My last cruise in May I did not see any of the men and women in my singles group using the equipment except me.

Good point Beetlegator,

I like to use the gym in the AM just for a light maintenance workout and then run around the upper deck for a couple miles. Usually, the gym is not crowded as this time as everybody is in the Windjammer stuffing their face with waffles, sausage and pastries.

One more tip, use the stairs instead of the elevators. It is usually faster anyway.

That can help too... 'Dear God thank you for all this wonderful food, but take it away and give it to the starving children in the world. I have enough extra on me, I can go a week without food and I won't starve. Amen"

I see objects flying, smack, hit wow did that hurt?? Never skip meals, maybe even eat six small meals. Tons of water, yes the steps are best, walk the upper deck, catch a tan while you are at it. Don't eat late at night. You are on vacation plan on a few pounds and enjoy!!!!!!!!

No, oh no Dan. You can not wear that swimsuit! Well, only if Jason has a matching one.

I'm not a big soda drinker -- bad for the teeth

I guess I'm in need of a Monitor Condom!

Hi Everybody, I am back from a 4 day cruise and I noticed a lot of obese people. I mean, they were extremely fat, like 300 to 400 pounds. They were young and old. It scared me into joining a gym and work on getting in shape because if I don't do that I could end up a fat chick.

Beetle and Dave are right on about staying toned up and normal weight.
I am a few pounds overweight and if I don't watch it I could end up super fat. It was really scary seeing all those extremely fat guys and chicks.

I don't like skinny guys. I am attracted to chubby guys. But if they weigh 300 to 400 pounds that means their first love is food. lol.

Skipping meals only causes your body to go into mini-starvation mode--any nutrionalist will tell you that. I agree with not eating everything in sight and try to skip high-calorie sodas and juices. Water is great for you and will keep you hydrated in warm temperatures.

But, if you are on vacation (I haven't been out of Alaska for 2 years--yikes!), I say eat whatever, just don't overindulge and balloon to 300 pounds. I'm a size 14/16 and according to my exes, I had curves in all the right places and they never had a problem being attracted to me. I can still run, play sports, climb 5 flights of stairs, etc and not pass out. And I don't need help getting up from a chair.

Sure, I'm not a model and I'd never expect myself to be. But it makes me wonder...are guys really attracted to skinny women because the media and society/American culture tells them what is attractive???...Or is it a biological, inherent chemical gene that determines this....hmmmm?

And I wonder if you guys out there who only like skinny women....have you ever dated someone heavier? Do you really have a way to compare? Just curious....

P.S. Spandex is not a right, it is a privilege. This goes for all those 300/400 pounders and up out there!!!!

Wow..lots of love with you cruisers!......makes for interesting reading. One thing for sure if we were to fall overboard I think we can safely say we could all stay afloat by holding on to that young lady in the red bikini......no need to send me a response anyone. I am fat, lazy, ugly, shallow.....thats why I love cruises! see all you fun peeps on the ocean!

Default Women over 40

It strikes me that 40 Plus women are fantastic.....they are usually very comfortable in their own skin by then, which is the real test of beauty.

What a bunch of losers! I've never seen a more immature, egotistical, pathologic, narcissistic group in my whole life. No wonder you're all still single.
