Default Hawaii Cruise in January - Sea Conditions Info. Please!

I know this question has been posted before. But it has never really been adequately answered. I know there are no guarantees, but how LIKELY is it to encounter continuously uncomfortable rough seas cruising from from the west coast to Hawaii in January? We are used to normal ship rolling on the open sea, but we want to be reasonably sure we will not regret the 6 days at sea that are part of the cruise.

I'm very interested by your question Dick...because we are going to Hawai, on the Summit next January.

What is ''Very rought seas''????
We have been on the Norwegian Dawn last January from New York and experienced 30 feet waves!!! This ship was rolling a lot!!!
It was the first time we had such bad weather...however it was still relatively comfortable.

Could we expect worst than thatt????

Weather is always with us, good or bad. When we did Hawaii in 2002, we finished with 5 sea days to Vancouver. The sea was like glass and they had to keep slowing the ship down so we wouldn't get there too early! It was in May, however. But I knew 2 people who had taken that same cruise 2 different years at the same time and they had rough seas. So you just don't know. I am taking Bonine & Dramamine just in case and I am one who doesn't ususally get motion sickness but I want to be prepared.

In the "Good old Days" when we had ships crossing from California to Hawaii on a regular basis, I made that crossing hundreds of times. In the Winter, the sea was rough more often than not. "Rough" was anywhere from 20 foot waves to 70 foot waves.
People were often seasick.

There is really no way to acurately predict what the seas will be like when you cross. Even the weather reports - as you well know - are not the most reliable.
If you don't like rough seas and want to gamble your vacation dollars on Mother Nature, then go for it.
If you want to have a more secure feeling about your Pacific Crossing, then go in the summer. Your chances are much better then.
