We returned from sailing on the POA on May 29th and after reading all the reviews ahead of time, we were pleased. If you are looking at sailing on the NCL ships, do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions. It is not as bad as the reviews sound - go in with an open mind and plan to have a wonderfuly fun and romantic time in the Hawaiian Islands - make sure to take extra memory cards or film!!! We came home with 600+ photos!!!
I can be reached here or directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or would like to see some photos to wet the aloha spirit!
I'd be interested in knowing how long it took to get ashore after you anchored in Kona. I'm booked on the 9/4/05 cruise and I'd like to sign up for a non-NCL snorkeling trip, but I'd have to be at the snorkeling outfit's pier by 8:45 a.m. The schedule says that we anchor at 7:00 a.m. but I would need to be on the cruise pier by 8:15 or so, and I'm not sure how do-able that is.
Also, what did you do on the last day of the cruise? The ship arrives in Honolulu at 7:00 a.m. but my flight back to the east coast won't be leaving until later afternoon or early evening.
I'm going on the Pride of Aloha next Sunday and I'm looking at the Shore Excursions. There are so many and so expensive. I'm making Shorex plans right now. Don't know what to do in Kona. There is the "A Chocolate Lover's Dream" tour that seemed interesting but not sure if to just rent a car instead. Don't know what to do if I don't take a tour. Any suggestions?
