Leggings are coming back!!!! This is one look, and this is my opinion only, that should be banned... I was reading Shop Etc, today, and they had a spread on leggings making a comeback! I just don't think it flatters any shape, and I hope it won't pop up on ships... we might be seeing the post, are leggings appropriate for casual night soon?..Okay, I got it out of my system Thanks

I agree -- something no lady would ever be cought wearing, even dead... just like "capris"... and, except when engaged in activities that really do require protection, pants.... ;-)

The teenagers are wearing leggings, but they are the thin, dancer's type, under micro-minis. Both my daughter, age 18 and my niece, age 14 will be wearing them on our July 9th cruise to Bermuda on NCL Crown. It looks cute on them, I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over 20

didn't like them the first time around, won't wear them if they come back, does that mean that slouch socks are coming back into fashion also?? I have a very vivid memory picture in my head of a very large woman wearing bright shinny turquoise leggings..... not a pretty picture.
The ones that the teen girls are wearing under their minis are fine, they are more like leotards.

I've seen leggings in the fashion mags, too, and also in the Fall Bloomingdale's catalog (Fall already!). This time around, they're footless and paired with really ugly tops and accessories. Leggings were popular years ago with tunics. I'll pass this time.

I'ved got to tell you what I saw one of the sales clerks wearing in Nordstrom. She had on ankle length black leggings, a long sleeved black tee and over that, a slinky white sleeveless thingy to her knees, all cinched in with a really ugly wide brown leather belt! On her feet were high heeled black espedrilles. The whole ensemble was supposedly the height of fall fashion, but I thought it was awful. My DH made fun of it. I must be getting really old! But this stuff wouldn't be attractive on a skinny girl, much less an overweight one.

I actually liked them with the long sweathers in the wintertime. I would wear them still if I did not look 10 years out of style!

The only thing worse than leggings, are Gauchos. But this can be fodder for another thread.

lets just say for teenagers in leggings< would you rather see their butts in a mini or leggings? i think we all know the answer to that so if girls are going to wear skirts short enough for he world to see what underneath let them wear the ugly things to spare us all the trauma!!!!!!

My mind flashes with Jamie Lee Curtis and "Physical". I guess those wide lapels and leisure suits will soon be back. Nooooooooo

Take care,

My husband and I saw these in Paris and other European places. We could not believe leggings were making a comeback. Luckily, we only saw them on thin women.

Default Leggings...

I'm nearing 50 and searched high and low for leggings last winter. I was traveling to Alaska and wanted that extra layer of warmth...trust me, it worked. Alaska in February is not a fashion scene...as one person told me...dress for warmth, not looks, this way you get to enjoy the great wilderness longer.
By the way, I did find the leggings in an online dance outfitter site. I purchased black leggings to match my pack boots (rated to -50F).
Whatever works, I guess.

Leggings have been running rampant around England now for about 5 years... it's that "Emo" trend... ::shudders::

Default Are stirrup pants next?

Shudder!

If leggings are coming back, can stirrup pants be too far behind?

I have scary memories of my mother-in-law wearing gold stirrup pants with a long sweater to a Christmas party... and that was about 7 years ago! Ug!

What are leggings? I have never seen them in my intire life im 23 is that bad? Oh going on what the previous poster said i like the fact that the girls are covering themselves instead of being full on skanks.

Oh how i hope the old one piece bathing suits come back in to fashion.

Actually, leggings are not a fashion accessory here in Montreal, they're more practical for the cold winters we suffer. Personally, I go all the way and wear slim snow pants, because I spend alot of time outdoors in the daycare where I work, but for women who must wear panty hose to work, leggings bring welcome warmth!

Wearing them under something for warmth is totally different then wearing these peg legged usually jersey leggings...either seeing bony knees and skinny legs, or cottage cheese thighs, would be a "Glamour Dont."

I saw a woman yesterday in a restaurant with leggings on and loose flimsy shirt over it and she came up to me, a total stranger, and said, "isn't this just the cutest outfit you ever saw"? I almost said, yes, but not on you. She looked to be in her 50's with a definite leaning towards pleasantly plump. What the heck, bring back those bell bottom pants, platform shoes, and beehive hairdos, but let's nip this right in the bud...no, they are not appropriate for formal night.

everyone! Very funny!
My eldest daughter(now 15) wore leggings a lot when she was little -up to about age 10. Some were in good shape so we put them away for the younger one(now 9). Well, she always hated leggings="too tight on my legs"(she is quite slim too!lol). So last spring we made them into shorts and they got sent to Sri Lanka to an orphanage.
Now they are back in style=. I sure hope the younger one does not want any!
I think they look alright under a short skirt/etc. on young women/girls. But it can be a scary thing if you do not have the right body type!!
I will definitely NOT be participating in this fashion trend.
Not stirrup pants again.....THAT can't ever happen, can it?
Bye for now. Brenda

No leggings and stirrups for the ladies (or men). Now the Capris are just fine IMHO except for formal night.

Personally, I dont wear them but I am glad that girls are covering up under those minis. I cant stand to see a young teen or little girl in mini skirt. The leggings make it better.

Default Therrrrrrrrrrrrre back

Bzeus,
I hate to be to tell you that Stirrup pants are back I saw them in the window of an Express store. Been there done that.

This will hurt a little to say, but if you have already worn them than you are too old to wear them again, ouch! ( referring to myself of course)
