I have to admit that I am a MOM crashing your board, but I need to ask you all something. We are planning an Alaskan cruise for this summer and we have 3 teens (17- and 13-y.o. boys and 15-y.o.girl). We are looking at the Oosterdam and I am hoping that there will be other teens on the ship. My kids aren't really party animals, but they do want to have a good time and not be the only "non-ancient" people on the cruise!
What do you guys think? Would they like this ship? I was thinking RCI Radiance of the Seas, which looks really cool, but it is too expensive now for the time frame we're looking at.
OOSTERDAM should be great. She was designed for Caribbean-younger crowd cruising. I have been to Alaska before and there were lots of teens. I know we have one teen here going on the OOSTERDAM late May.... I would say the ship is good for both adults and teens, but if you have been on other HAL ships, be aware of the decor. Its not as tone down as the other HAL ships.
Thanks, Wayne! Only other ships we've been on were the Disney Magic (gorgeous), and my sister and I just got back from a cruise on the Carnival Spirit (I thought it was totally gaudy, but it didn't keep me from having a great time!). So the Oosterdam should be fine.
