So I thought I was booked on the Mariner, but things might have changed.
The Carnival Splendor came out earlier this week saying they were going to the Pacific Northwest too. Their cruise goes to Astoria and Vancouver, two places my family hasn't been. Also, the ship is a lot newer then the Mariner of the Seas. And most importantly, its 1200 bucks less.
But, the mariner of the seas is larger, and we have had better experiences with RCCL in the past. Is it worth the extra 1200 bucks to go on the Mariner, or should we go on the Splendor?
Disney Magic- August 02
Carnival Pride- July 05
Monarch of the Seas- April 06
My family and I have been in this situation multiple times. I believe that if the difference is significant, go for the cheaper one and then use that money towards another cruise. For me, I would rather go on two cruises than one. I've gotten to the point where I could careless about what line, what ship and what ports... I just want to get on a ship and relax! When we went for thanksgiving, it was extremely expensive. We went on two really cheap cruises after that, so it balanced out the total money spent. RC is better though! haha
Go on the cheaper one, you'll have an extra $1200 to spend on and off the ship on souvenirs.
