Tipping on excursions

How much should the bus driver be tipped on excursions? Does it make any difference in the amount you should tip if you book through the ship or book privately?

Hi Linda,
We usually tip a few bucks per person to the driver, especially if he's giving the tour on the road, sometimes there will also be a tour guide, then they deserve some form of tip as well. Sometimes they will mention tipping, other times it could be a cup or hat you will see as you get on and off the bus. No, its pretty much the same when doing an excursion you book with an independent tour operator or the cruiseline, they all like tips :-)

Thanks Donna. I know some work places the only compensation is tips, so I would hate to give someone like that too little, especially if they have done a good job.
