Hi Trip,
I have to agree with you even if I don't use them. Last cruise on Princess, they had one on every floor and I did use it once. You can actually pack a little less if you know you can wash a few things. Wish they'd all have them.

That's why I don't mind that Princess charges for ice cream sundaes and other things people have complained about the line. The savings in doing your own laundry outweighs the other costs. I understand they charge to use the machines now, but I bet it's still cheaper than using the laundry service.

Who needs a laundry room on a ship?? I think that is why I like Celebrity. No laundry rooms. I do enough laundry at home. My mom thinks I take in the neighbors clothes . Do what I do and overpack so then there is no need to ever do laundry on vacation. If I had to wash laundry on vacation I would jump overboard. Just my 2 cents : ) Happy cruising.

I agree with Carole, I don't do laundry on vacation, Do enough at home. But it is nice they have laundries on every deck of the Princess ships.

I'd rather do a load of laundry than have to carry 14 sets of men's cotton underwear. What a waste of luggage space! I'm glad HAL has the laundry rooms on each deck.

Then do what I do - wear the same underwear every day... and at night too so you don't have to pack pajamas. And while I'm at it, forget the bathing suit, just wear your skivvies - who's gonna notice?

A 33-day cruise without self service laundry would be something else.

I'm not sure that Celerbrity has laundry rooms. I don't remember seeing any. i am one of those people who would rather carry less clothes and do laundry. My husband is doing a two week cruise on a ship with no laundry room. What a mess I will have when he gets back.

I don't mind washing out a few things in the basin, and turning the bathroom into the Hanging Gardens, but who wants to do laundry on vacation. I came on the cruise to get away from it all including the laundry. A travel article I once read suggested taking you oldest undies and instead of washing them you just threw them away. Leaves more room in the suitcase for souveniers that way. Makes sense too me except that all of my undies are my oldest!!

Laundry rooms are not a necessity on a one week cruise-- but when you go for longer stretches they are very necessary. I am not looking forward to two weeks on board the Galaxy April 28 since I discovered they do not have laundry rooms. I guess I have been spoiled by HAL and Princess.

I (we) agree with you. Booked on the Mecury for two weeks in April. Just had it confirmed through several baords about not having laundry rooms. Spoiled by Carnival and Princess. Someone on another board said it cost $3.00 for a pair of panties to be washed! Guess it wasn't a joke.

Teach him how to use the washing machine and dryer - his mother should have already done it.
