Glad to see you back Denise but sorry about the contractor problems.
After my sisters built houses over the years and hearing of their problems with contractors we always decided to buy existing homes in all of our moves. One sister became a builder too.
We are now building a commercial building and so far everything is going pretty well. But I'm waiting for the disaster to come. I am at the site everyday taking video footage of the construction "just in case."
We had a home built in southern California twenty years ago. It was a company that was tried and true and we had a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
Moved to the Oregon coast five years ago and again selected a builder who had been constructing homes in the area for twenty years. And guess what- another great experience and beautiful (and durable) home in a harsh climate- we are right on the ocean.
I feel for you, as it has to be terribly stressful/painful. But there are reputable contractors out there who can provide a great construction experience and keep you cruising too.
We built our 1st over 3 years ago. I would do it again but we learned alot in the process. Sorry to hear of your problems. At least you do have your cruise to look forward too. Even if you don't have much money for spending (you really don't need much), but you are on the ship and from what I have heard just the scenery as you are cruising along is breathtaking. Enjoy your cruise!
Hi Denise, I remember you and was wondering where you had gone off to - you were so excited and enthusiastic about your Alaska cruise and then you disappeared.
Sorry to hear about your homebuilding problems. I just had a home built and had a great experience, but even then it has drained most of my cruise fund. I hope everything works out favorably for you. At least you have another Alaska cruise to look forward to.
